Root Scanner

Root Scanner

  • Product Number:LD-GX02
  • Product Difference:Scanning type, designed for professional root analysis after washing, measuring root length, diameter, area, volume, and root tip count

Product Introduction

The Root Scanner is designed for professional root analysis after root washing and can also be used for root phenotyping of plants grown in root boxes. It analyzes root length, diameter, area, volume, root tip counts, and more. Powerful yet easy to operate, its software enables morphological analysis of plant roots and overall structural distribution, making it widely applicable in root morphology and structure research.

The Root Scanner utilizes a high-quality graphics scanner to capture high-resolution color or monochrome images of plant root systems. It features a specialized dual-light source illumination system installed beneath the scanning panel and within the top cover, with dedicated dual-light calibration zones reserved on the scanning panel. Additionally, it comes equipped with specialized, highly transparent root placement trays in various sizes. During scanning, light sources beneath the scanning panel and within the top cover simultaneously illuminate root samples placed on the high-transparency tray. This design minimizes shadowing and uneven illumination—common issues in root scanning—effectively ensuring high image quality.

This soft root analysis software supports reading images in TIFF and JPEG standard formats. For acquired images, it employs software decrypted via a dongle to analyze the high-quality root images obtained from scanning. Non-statistical methods are used to measure and calculate fundamental morphological parameters such as the length, diameter, area, volume, and root tips of intersecting and overlapping root sections. This fulfills researchers' needs for studying different categories and levels of plant root systems.
