The Kjeldahl nitrogen analyzer is an automated instrument that determines nitrogen and protein content based on the Kjeldahl method. It is widely used for the analysis of nitrogen and protein in fields such as food processing, feed production, tobacco, animal husbandry, soil and fertilizer, environmental monitoring, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, scientific research, and education.
Based on the principles of the Kjeldahl method, the instrument automatically performs quantitative reagent addition, distillation, absorption, and titration on the digested sample and outputs the test results, which can be expressed as nitrogen content or converted to protein content. The specific reaction steps are as follows: after sample digestion, the resulting ammonium sulfate reacts with a base to produce ammonia gas. The ammonia gas, together with steam, passes through a condenser where it is condensed and collected in an absorption solution containing boric acid. Simultaneously, an indicator in the absorption solution undergoes a color change. The instrument then performs automatic titration; a color sensor automatically determines the titration endpoint, and the nitrogen content of the sample is calculated based on the consumption of the standard titrant.
All steps of the Kjeldahl nitrogen determination system are completed automatically according to the program. This provides great convenience for laboratory personnel conducting nitrogen and protein analyses. The system is characterized by safety, reliability, ease of operation, and time and labor savings.
