Tree Ring Analyzer

Tree Ring Analyzer

  • Product Number:LD-NL
  • Product Difference:Specialized measurement of tree rings on circular wood sections or columnar growth cone samples

Product Introduction

The tree-ring analysis system for tree-ring image analysis is a multi-platform image analysis system designed to measure tree rings on disc-shaped wood cross-sections or columnar growth cone samples when paired with a scanner.

Large wood samples can be imaged multiple times at different locations; a specialized tree-core locator is used to position columnar samples; two automated tree-ring measurement methods are available for different tree species; Manual image recognition correction and missing pixel addition functions are available.

Additionally, it automatically sets tangents for cracks and growth ring angles to ensure measurement accuracy. Supplementary functions enable standard plant growth analysis, including stem mean radius, diameter, and total cross-sectional area; tree height, volume, and age.

The following parameters can be simultaneously displayed for analyzed annual ring images: ring width, earlywood/latewood width, maximum/minimum/average ring density, earlywood/latewood, etc.

Tree ring analyzers are widely used in fields such as botany, plant physiology, forestry, dendrology, and forest ecology.

Product Features

  • Large wood samples can be imaged multiple times at different locations.

  • Image recognition correction can be applied to add missing pixels.

  • Specialized tree core locator prevents columnar samples, ensuring easy operation.

  • Two automated measurement methods tailored for distinct tree species.

  • Standard plant growth analysis displays annual ring parameters alongside images.

  • Built-in calibration functionality with independent XY-axis adjustments.

  • Features a follow-up magnifying glass function for precise measurements via mouse dragging. Images can be zoomed in/out and examined locally, enabling statistical analysis of selected mouse regions.

  • Analysis images, distribution maps, and result data can be saved. Analysis results can be exported to Excel spreadsheets, and analysis markup diagrams can be output.

Product parameters

Key ParametersMeasurement of growth rings horizontally or vertically, measurement of growth rings along straight lines (single section), measurement of growth ring width, automatic growth ring monitoring modes (varying intensity), Ignoring gaps, sapwood width measurement, estimating missing growth rings, measuring rings in various orientations, analyzing complex-shaped samples (multiple sections), adding relevant rings, earlywood/latewood width measurement, per-ring reflected light measurement (max, min, average, direction), storing final section rings, customizable parameters (e.g., name, type), Image editing, batch analysis
Plant Growth Ring Measurement Analysis

① Automatically determines the number of growth rings, average width per ring, earlywood and latewood widths, tangential angle, and area per ring.

② Automatically delineates growth ring boundaries, earlywood boundaries, latewood boundaries, and identifies very narrow rings.

③ Interactively deletes pseudo-rings, inserts broken rings, and analyzes tree disc area, circumference, average diameter, shape factor, pore area, and ring technology.
④ Automatically generates internationally recognized analysis chronologies. Measured data supports cross-dating and further data analysis.
⑤ Features temporary storage and loading of ring diagram data for ongoing comparative analysis.
⑥ Features a “software stereoscope” for detailed analysis.
⑦ Includes endpoint snapping for path positioning. Unsatisfactory analysis paths can be broken, deleted, extended, or edited, and analysis result plots can be saved.
⑧ Angle adjustments along plots feature follow-along functionality, which can be canceled or deleted during path drawing.

⑨ Capable of directly analyzing high-precision scanned tree ring images up to 1GB in size, with automatic analysis capability for extremely fine rings with widths <0.2mm.

⑩ Calculates total tree base area and supports saving/loading images in standard TIFF, BMP, PNG, and JPEG formats.
