This fluorescent whitening agent detector is developed in accordance with the Ministry of Agriculture industry standard: NY/T1257-2006 “Rapid Detection of Fluorescent Substances in Edible Fungi” for development. It can be widely applied for rapid quality safety testing of edible fungi or agricultural products containing fluorescent whitening agents as preservatives. It is suitable for agricultural product testing institutions, industrial and commercial departments for testing and evidence collection, as well as agricultural product trading markets, supermarkets, universities and colleges, hotels and restaurants, and self-testing by distributors.
The whitening effect of fluorescent whitening agents is based on the principle of complementary colors in chemistry. After being treated with fluorescent whitening agents, yellowish substances not only reflect visible light (red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, blue, and violet) but also absorb ultraviolet light beyond the visible spectrum and convert it into blue-violet visible light, which is then reflected. This process offsets the original yellow color of the substance, making it appear white and visually appealing.
Since the material basis for fluorescent whitening is ultraviolet light, and ultraviolet light is rarely produced by light sources in daily life, its whiteness under natural light is less than under artificial light. Under the illumination of the instrument's light source (xenon arc lamp), the fluorescent substances in the fluorescent whitening agent are excited to generate electrons in the first excited singlet state. When these electrons return to the ground state's various vibrational energy levels, they emit fluorescence, which can be observed in the dark. By observing whether fluorescence is visible under the instrument's illumination, it can be determined whether the sample contains fluorescent whitening agents.
Controlled by a microcomputer for high accuracy.
Simple operation, no professional personnel required.
Fast detection speed, with results available in 1 minute.
Compact size, lightweight, and easy to carry.
The instrument features three button switches for 254nm, 365nm, and visible light, which can be activated independently.
The instrument housing has dual-sided operation ports on both sides, with a front-opening design for easy sample loading and unloading.
Users can directly observe samples inside the darkroom through the housing.
A specially designed UV-proof observation port protects operators from UV damage.
